Myles Gray had a three-hit game and Zack Baird hit a home run, but the Napa Valley College baseball team lost to host Yuba College, 22-7, on Thursday, March 12 in Marysville.
Gray was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.
Baird was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Ryan Rice had a two-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double.
It was the second game of a three-game Bay Valley Conference series.
Napa Valley (5-15 overall, 1-1 Bay Valley) is still looking for its first road win of the season. The Storm is 0-13 in away games.
Napa Valley fell behind early, 3-0, but the Storm used a three-run fourth inning to tie it, 3-3.
Yuba went ahead 4-3 in the fourth inning, and expanded on that lead. Yuba scored four runs in the fifth inning, nine runs in the sixth inning, three runs in the seventh inning and two runs in the eighth inning.
Additional hits for the Storm came from:
Dylan Brown, 1-for-3, RBI; Wyatt Smith, 1-for-4, two runs scored; Ben Menard, 1-for-4; Hibiki Harayama, 1-for-1, run scored, RBI; Ty Francis, 1-for-2; and Lionel Williamson, 1-for-1, run scored.
Napa Valley left nine runners on base, walked three times, struck out four times, and committed three errors.
Baird hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
NVC pitching gave up 17 hits and 18 earned runs, walking 11 and striking out three.
Nick Stubbles started for the Storm.
Pitching in relief was Ryan Oliveri, Seth England, Riki Gombas and Charles Squier.
Napa Valley and Yuba meet in Game 3 of the series on Friday, March 13 at NVC's Storm Field at 1 p.m.
