NVC men's golf ends Big 8 Conference season with second-place finish in Fresno

The Napa Valley College men's golf team played in its final Big 8 Conference tournament of the spring season, taking second place on Monday, April 27 at Copper River Country Club, in Fresno.
Napa Valley, the Big 8 Conference North Division champion, posted a 299-team score, finishing as the runner-up in a field of eight teams.
Five players posted scores in the 70's for Napa Valley.
It was Lawrence Collins leading the way with a 73.
Next was Will Hutton with a 74, followed by Dominic Taverrite with a 75, Peyton Alexander with a 77, and Josh Hull with a 78.
Also, playing for the Storm was Ian Hall (80).
Lawrence Collins, Ian Hall and Will Hutton earned All-Conference honors for Napa Valley, coach Bob Freschi announced.
Napa Valley made it a three-peat, winning the Big 8 Conference's North Division title for the third year in a row last week, as four players posted scores in the 70's at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards. It was the final home tournament of the season for the Storm, which shot a very impressive 5-over-par 293-team score in very challenging conditions, on a par-72, 6,800-yard course that was soft and also wet in areas from recent rains.
It was the Storm's sixth win of the season.
Reedley College won the final Big 8 Conference tournament of the season, posting a 273-team score.
Reedley had the tournament's top-2 individual placers, with Marco Woehler firing a 66 and earning low individual medalist honors. Taking second place was Julian Rombouts with a 68.
Four players, in all, posted scores in red numbers for Reedley.
Brecht Hulsman had a 69 and Leo Eisner had a 70 for Reedley.
Also, in the field:
San Joaquin Delta College-Stockton, 300-team score; Sierra College-Rocklin, 300-team score; Fresno City College, 303-team score; Modesto Junior College, 311-team score; San Jose City College, 322-team score; Taft College, 342-team score.
NVC goes to the California Community College Athletic Association-Northern California Regional, May 3-4 at Bayonet Golf Course, in Seaside (Monterey County).
The Northern California Regional and Southern California Regional will qualify teams and individuals for the 3C2A State Championships, May 10-11, at SilverRock Resort, at La Quinta.
